The county Tjøme, consist of two islands - Tjøme and Hvasser - and count 4000 inhabitants 9 months of the year. In summertime, when all the tourists enter in june, july and august the population grows to about 40 000 - yes, fourty thousand!
The stores run out of groceries, the traffic is dense - on the sea as well as on the road, and the beaches are as crowded as an Iowa barn.
The start of the day was not very good (or very good - if you ask Sue) because Iprobably killed a cat with my car. I ran over it because it couldn't make up its mind ... I looked in the mirror after wheeling over it, and of it went. I stopped to see if it was injured, but couldn't find it. Hope it is OK, but don't think it is. At least I took one out of he's nine lieves.
Everybody know that a black cat crossing the road is bad luck. I wonder what happens when you kill a black cat crossing the road ... Is that killing the bad luck, or does it make it good luck or ... Anybody? His name was Nemi, thank god it wasn't Nemo, cause if you read that backwards ... May he rest in peace - if he is ...
When we finally got home, we spent the rest of the morning trying to make up our mind on were to go, what to do, how to spend the day, the next days and the rest of the week. We couldn't figure ...
So, afterwards we grabbed our bikes and went to Hvasser (remember the fishermans store on the left picture Tom :O) . We had an ice cream , a chat with an old couple who was very impressed and wanted to know if we had travelled Europe on our bikes ... and were less impressed when we told them that so far, this was the longest ride. We also enjoyed the ever lasting music from the sea gulls, the smell of sea, fish and foreign spices filled the air and made us long for a big mac ... So that is how we closed this dreadful day and beautiful sunny night in Norway ...
